[HR] Create a Custom Field

Before starting:


A limit of eight custom fields per tab can be added (for a total of sixteen).




On the Web App

On the Mobile App


1. Click on the cogwheel.


2. Click on the "Employee File Custom Field Management" module.


3. Click on "New Custom Field".


4. Fill in the form:


a) Description (Français): Enter the field title in French.


b) Description (English): Enter the field title in English. 


c) Employee File Tab: Select the tab where the field should be displayed.


d) Data Type: Select a field type:


Text: Accepts all characters. Additionally, when the text starts with 'http' or 'www', an icon appears next to the field. Clicking on it redirects the user to the web address. 


Numeric: Accepts only numbers and always displays in the '99.99' format. 


Date: Accepts only values in the date format (YYYY-MM-DD). 


Checkbox: The field will be displayed as a checkbox 


e) Show choice suggestions: If checked, Cangaroo HR will suggest previously entered values from this field across all employee files. 


f) Do not allow adding custom choices: The employee cannot enter a new value (they must select from the predefined list). 


g) Selection of always-available choices: Enter the choices that should always be available in this field. Separate multiple choices with a semicolon (';'). 


h) Is Enabled?: Check the box to activate the field.


i) Mapping to payroll system: Use this option to link this field to a corresponding field in your payroll system. 


5. Click on the floppy disk icon at the bottom right to save. 



Sorry, this feature is not available on the mobile application.


A custom field is visible in all employee files. 
  • Job tab: Custom fields are located in the first section at the top of the page, titled "Job Information". 
  • Personal tab: Custom fields are located in the section titled "Professional Information".
